L’anse is our blend of four Rhône white varietals: 40% Grenache Blanc, 40% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, and 5% Marsanne. We’re really pleased with how this blend came together. It has such a balanced feel on the tongue, with notes of apricot, citrus, and honey on the palate. A beautiful wine, nicely structured, with just a little oak from the Viognier, which was fermented in a 100% new oak barrel from France.

This wine turned out to be a pleasant surprise. As it was fermented and aged in 100% new French oak barrels, you might expect the oak to be overwhelming, but it’s not. It’s soft and mellow, with plenty of the plum and apricot notes that Grenache Blanc is known to develop. The fruit had a long time on the vine to develop complexity, but the acid in the wine did not diminish. It goes very well with goat cheese or a Spanish Manchego. It’s drinking really well right now, but if you can hold on to some of it, you may be rewarded in the future for your patience.

This is a very traditional Rosé from the Mourvèdre grape. Our version of “summer water,” as we call it around here, has great acidity and pairs well with a variety of foods. This is definitely one you could enjoy with a hamburger. The bouquet starts out with wonderful notes of rose petal, and there’s a delightful combination of grapefruit and plums on the palate. Even if it’s past Labor Day, this rosé will bring a little summer back into your schedule.

Soft notes of honey, peaches and almonds come forward in this wine. There is also hint of citrus. The juice was fermented and held in a combination of 2nd year french oak barrels and stainless steel barrels. The oak exists on the wine; but has a softer presence because of the barrel program used for it.

This Roussanne has notes of butterscotch and plum. Lots of upfront fruit on the palette, and the 100% new French oak barrels in which it was aged blend with it nicely. Roussanne typically benefits from a little cellar time, which will likely be the case with this one. It’s a very rich and full-bodied wine, but pair it with a roasted pepper with a little goat cheese melted inside, and wow! Crystalline crispness and minerality appear. Truly a great example of how wine and food pairings can affect the tasting experience.

This Viognier has a very nice floral character to it, almost like a soft, subdued white lily. This is a blend from a cooler Santa Maria vineyard and a warmer Foxen Canyon vineyard. The fruit from the two vineyards pairs together quite nicely, with one being a little more acidic, and the other, riper and lusher. Combining the two creates a nice balanced structure in this wine.
