This is blended from two different vineyards. One is a small 20 acre vineyard in Ballard Canyon and the other is from Foxen Canyon. The combination provides a blend between a lusher fruit from one vineyard with the minerality from the other vineyard. It has slight honey notes with a hint of nectarine combined with the fresh cut apple qualities often associated with a Grenache Blanc.
This is such a nicely balanced Rosé with soft rose petal on the bouquet. The fruit is from the same wonderful Foxen Canyon vineyard as our previous Rosé. Breakout the BBQ, this is great with a Triple Cream Goat Cheese, Turkey Burgers and grilled vegetables.
“Aligerum” is Latin for “Having Wings”. This blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah, Mourvedre has blackberry, oak forest floor along with red plum and some floral notes. Tasty stuff and my favorite surprise blend of the vintage!
L’anse is our blend of four Rhône white varietals: 40% Grenache Blanc, 40% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, and 5% Marsanne. We’re really pleased with how this blend came together. It has such a balanced feel on the tongue, with notes of apricot, citrus, and honey on the palate. A beautiful wine, nicely structured, with just a little oak from the Viognier, which was fermented in a 100% new oak barrel from France.
This wine turned out to be a pleasant surprise. As it was fermented and aged in 100% new French oak barrels, you might expect the oak to be overwhelming, but it’s not. It’s soft and mellow, with plenty of the plum and apricot notes that Grenache Blanc is known to develop. The fruit had a long time on the vine to develop complexity, but the acid in the wine did not diminish. It goes very well with goat cheese or a Spanish Manchego. It’s drinking really well right now, but if you can hold on to some of it, you may be rewarded in the future for your patience.
With elegance and ambiance, our 2017 Mourvedre Rosé fills our senses with floral notes, such as rose petals and gardenia; Chased by hints of apricot, grapefruit, and guava on the palate. We have fresh acidity for a delicious lingering mouth-feel. Pair it with salmon, sushi, or a light salad.
Hints of dried cherries, cinnamon, as well as anise can be experienced on the nose of our 2016 Syrah "SBC". On the palate we have light structure with dark fruits such as, fig and pomegranate. Aged 75% 2nd year French oak, 25% New French oak for 26 months.
With essence of dark plum, blackberry, toasted almonds, sage, and black pepper; along with its smooth and supple texture. Our Black Oak Syrah would make the perfect companion to your evening meal. We suggest pairing it with grilled meats, vegetables, and even wild game!
Our 2016 Grenache, is another of many highlights to the Rivahil assemblage. With its translucent, violet-ruby hue, vanilla & raspberry aromas, it truly intrigues ones senses. When tasting your welcomed with roasted plum, clove & hints black pepper.
Soft notes of honey, peaches and almonds come forward in this wine. There is also hint of citrus. The juice was fermented and held in a combination of 2nd year french oak barrels and stainless steel barrels. The oak exists on the wine; but has a softer presence because of the barrel program used for it.
